4.1.9.1 Ordination Ceremonies and Ecumenism

1. In the conferral of Holy Orders, Christians of other communions must not be invited to take active roles. For reasons of friendship or courtesy, however, they may be invited to be present. They are not to participate in the laying on of hands.

2. Catholics may not take an active role in the ordination ceremonies of other Churches and ecclesial communities, although invitations to be present at these ceremonies may be accepted. They are not to participate in the laying on of hands or other liturgical gestures by which ordination or a similar status is conferred.
