5.9.4.3 Support for Permanent Deacons

1. Deacons in full-time secular employment, as well as those in part-time ministries, are to be reimbursed for legitimate expenses incurred in their ministry. [1]

2. Financial assistance for the continuing education and spiritual development of deacons is to be provided by the place of ministerial service according to the Ministry Agreement, unless other arrangements have been approved or made by the Office of Deacons.

3. Suitable liturgical vestments and ritual texts are to be made available or provided by the place of ministerial service according to the Ministry Agreement, unless other arrangements have been approved or made by the Office of Deacons.

4. The place of ministerial service is to pay expenses of a married deacon’s spouse for events to which she has been invited or is expected to attend.
